Food was soooo great didn’t even get a chance to take a pic lol My family got the boca rota as an appetizer to start off and they wanted to order a second round. The drinks were also super good. We ordered the chicken pesto, uncle bo’s seafood catch, garlic rib eye steak, and baked fish and every single thing was sooooo good. To top it all off our server Jonathan take great care us and will be recommending this place to family and friends who plan to visit in the future!
This has been on my list of restaurants to try in Hawaii and a local also recommended it.
We ordered:
– Boca Rota
– Baked Opah Mauna Kea w Garlic Mash
– Uncle Bo ‘s Seafood Catch
I absolutely loved the fish with the garlic aioli. The garlic mashed potato’s with the side of veggies went really well with it. I thought my bf’s seafood catch was also pretty good. It was nice and creamy. The boba rota was ok in my opinion. I thought it looked better than it tasted. I couldn’t really taste the garlic but it was something different to try and I still enjoyed it.
They also had a great list of cocktails. I definitely recommend this restaurant to try.
5 of us went to the bar and ordered food and drinks. Our waiter, named Guy, rocked! He really made the experience. He was new but obviously had experience in customer service. The food was great, the drinks nice, the service was the best!
I came here after dinner and wanted to grab a few drinks. I couldn’t pass on the opportunity on trying some pupus here and went with the boca rota.
Boca Rota – Garlic cheesy bread..yum. Very cheesy too. Prime rib sautéed w/ mushrooms, yum. Together… explosion of deliciousness in my mouth.
I finished the plate and pretty much licked it clean.
Unfortunately I was pretty stuffed after this and couldn’t try more things. This is a place I wanted to go back to to try more things.
Plenty of street parking in the area.
I went here for my bday dinner with gfs. Great spot to come for special occasions and with fam and friends. I love all their dishes here! We ordered their famous Boca rota, dynamite shrimp, Thai clams, spinach artichoke dip and homemade tortilla chips, Bo Bim Bap, Kalua pork fried rice, deep fried ice cream, and taro beignets with ice cream. Some of my faves were Boca Rota, Dynamite shrimp, Taro beignets! Service was great and I love they have great drinks here too!
Heard many great things but the food was ok. Service was good, they kept the plates bussed, but the 18% large party tip was added after tax which was weird (usually the tip is pre tax).
We tried the thai style clams (everyone loved the sauce with the bread but I thought it was just ok), kalua pig nachos (one of my faves of the night, won ton chips and sour cream with cilantro were good), and we got 2 of the ohana meals: caesar salad, chicken alfredo pasta, boss pizza (pepp, saus, mush), and prime rib with fries and veg medley. Portion sizes were good but not super flavorful. Faves of the night were nachos and pizza. Very expensive for what you get. Might give another chance but it’s not cheap eats.
This is a spot I call that it’s a hit and miss., I ordered a soup and the soup was half full, see picture and when I asked to to top it off they said I have to order another one., so I passed because of their unwilling to notice their uncustomer service like behavior., not to mention that their soup was not even hot., it was warm., I do not recommend this place., my wife’s white fish also had no taste., it was a tasteless $30 some dollar plate. I will come back to North Shore but never to this place. To give them credit their overpriced steak was liked by my son. So there you have it.
We must have visited on an off evening for Uncle Bo’s. We had been to Uncle Bo’s on previous visits to Hawaii and had really good experiences. The reviews for Uncle Bo’s are still phenomenal.
We were first seated at a table right by the door but when we requested a table in the back room we were cheerfully accommodated. The service was very good. My husband had 2 lychee martinis and I had a glass of white wine. For an appetizer we ordered the boca rota and it was a very good generous serving consisting of cheesy bread served with beef and mushrooms in a lovely sauce. For entrees we both ordered the fish of the day – monchong. I ordered my cooked Asian style – steamed with garlic and soya sauce and my husband requested his pan broiled with garlic citrus butter. When they were presented mine was so salty that it was inedible. I sent my fish back. My husband’s was also not very good. I think it was overcooked but he thought maybe it was just the texture of the fish. I thought it was very dry and my husband ended up leaving half his fish uneaten. The French fries were good though. The best part of his meal. I ended up ordering chicken wings from their pupu menu for my meal and they were okay but not the best wings that I’ve had.
It was very disappointing. We had such high expectations based on recent reviews and our own past experience.
This place is literally so delicious… Best service i have had in a long time… they had my favorite champagne with a splash of black cherry juice … ask for John he is a really good bartender and can make a mean old fashion.. definitely try the classic Uncle Bo’s Dynamite shrimp… will definitely come back again… this actually will be my new spot .. Thanks John for the great service… and Ella was also a great hostess… thanks for making us feel at home..
This place is . Pupu is an Asian dish served as an appetizer or main course and consisting of a variety of foods. Variety of foods is right! This place has so many good entrees and dishes that you can get. The decor is nice, you can sit at a table or at the bar, either way, I like the vibes here. All of the staff was friendly and they have good recommendations! This is a place to eat, drink, talk, and chill. Uncle Bo keeps bringing the heat with the various appetizers that they serve. We started with the Boca Rota. This dish is pieces of bread with melted cheese that you dip into a sauce of rib-eye steak and mushroom! SO GOOD! We also got Bo’s Nachos which had pork and wonton chips, excellent as well. We also got the clam chowder, tasty. You really can just keep going down the menu here. This place was so damn good we had to come back to try Bo’s Dynamite Shrimp, the shrimp was crusted with a sauce that was delicious. We also got the wings which were hot and cooked to perfection. Uncle Bo’s is now one of my favorite Hawaii restaurants, no matter what you order, it’s gonna be good.
