Im a bit torn. I have been here once before and wanted to bring my family since I really enjoyed my 1st visit. However the servers were great…attentive
It is seriously the best ramen I’ve had. My daughter had sushi and it was amazing also. The portions are huge too. The service was fast and friendly. I will be back soon!
We did the all-you-can-eat option and it was so fun! We got to try a good variety of items and left feeling satisfied. Love this sushi spot!
We have been to Umi about 10 times and it has always been wonderful! The sushi rolls and service are always amazing:) right now they have “all you can eat” sushi and it’s fantastic. Check them out and you won’t be disappointed!
Been coming here for years. Recently went for lunch and now they offer AYCE sushi, sashimi, ramen, etc. we got the premium version bc we wanted sashimi. Portion sizes are smaller so you can order more things. They give half a roll and 3 pieces of most things ordered. The fish was fresh and service was great! My favorites were the pepperfin, tuna, crispy geso and hamachi kama. I ordered the firehouse roll which I didn’t realize the whole thing was fried and it was in the upper limits of my spice level.
For the price, the AYCE sushi for lunch is a steal.
Shame, this place is super close, solid food that is consistent. We’ve patronized throughout the takeout only portion or the pandemic (tipping very generously) and continued to. But after awful customer service tonight, we won’t be returning.
I had called to place and order for pickup. The person answering sounded frazzled and said, “umi, please hold” Okay, ten minutes pass, I’m wondering if they’re too busy to so an order but it was a celebratory meal so I hung in there. Ten minutes pass, I contemplated hanging up and calling back, but didn’t want to lose my place in the queue, so I hopped in the car and headed over to find a mostly empty parking lot. Which is curious because even on non busy times/days parking in this lot is a challenge. Still on hold. Enter the restaurant, a whopping 3 tables were occupied with 2 -5 people at each. Still on hold. A gentleman came to the podium and asked if he could help me. I showed my phone screen still on hold (now at 22 minutes – told you it was close) and that I’m trying to place an order for take out. No apology for the excessive time on hold, not even acknowledging it. Placed and paid for order (not generously tipping this time) and was told to “give them 15-20 minutes”. Son, I already gave you 20 minutes, maybe consider your public facing language skills and choose better words. No offer of water while I waited. Just trash canned an establishment we spent the last 6 years going to and ordering from with stunning aplomb.
The food was solid and consistent as always. But if you want to be treated like chattle to get it, this is your place.
Great sushi here as well as atmosphere. The servers always have a smile. All you can eat during lunch hours started not long ago. Been coming here for years.
In California, you’d have to go to San Francisco to get sushi this good – but that’ll cost you the big bucks. Might as well save the trip and go to Umi. The atmosphere is infectious – comfortable seating – layback, yet classy. The ambiance is like going to your rich friend’s house but you’re all good friends so you dress casual.
We always visit Umi when we’re in town for repairs and upgrades on our Airstream at Vinnie’s Northbay Airstream Repair.
If you don’t eat sashimi, that’s no problem – they have plenty of excellent cooked rolls – and, they prepare anything you want under any and all dietary considerations.
It’s best to get reservations or you will have a long wait.
If you’re interested in sushi, ramen or just a wonderful environment with great staff then Umi is the spot. Very welcoming staff and the food is just incredible. My go to roll is the Lion King, spicy scallop hand roll and the 9-1-1. If you are on your way, you can use Yelp to reserve a spot for your party. Give Umi a try, I promise you won’t be disappointed!
Excellent sushi family oriented place. Food is very tasty. Japanese uni was heaven in the mouth. Kids plates also amazing.
