WOW I sat at the bar tonight and the bartender I think Frankie is their name absolutely killed it. I sat at the bar and literally had the pleasure of watching them just work like a machine. It was truly a flawless performance of making some pretty intense and wild cocktails. I’m still in awe. The food was great the beer was even better but watching the bartender pump out all those shots and cocktails was really a show 10/10 would recommend.
Updating my review to three stars… the location is fine with nice long tables and a diverse menu of Asian fusion cuisine. I heard the cocktails were amazing but my review of the food is that it’s just mediocre. I got the k town noodles but the prawns were really sad looking and unflavoured and the dish just lacked spice and flavor. I got extra hot sauce to try to redeem it but it just wasn’t worth it.
Got the Bombay masala wings, the cucumber appy and the goauchujang wings.
The wings were good, I like the wet rubs more than the dry runs. The cucumber dish is perfect to break up the flavours of the wings.
I loooove this place and will always come back.
Also got the green drink and it was SO good. I could drink that ALL day!
Food and drinks were good, as they always are. The waitress was also great but a bit distracted. That’s fine; not a big deal. But when I quickly popped up, greasy fingered and thirsty, from my seat to the bar (3 steps away) to ask the waitress for napkins and another drink, the bartender took the opportunity to reprimand me for not having put my mask on in a completely unnecessary asshole move that had zip all to do with anything other than, well, him being a dick.
Just had the best time chilling here at The Union. Such great vibes here on a weekday evening, friendly servers, wicked tunes, and very fine food. They have house made mystery (lol) hot sauce which I slathered over every.thing, and I really liked the peanut noodle bowl with sambai ginger peanut sauce and crispy tofu cubes. Gochujang wings excellent, and the comment from my friends on the kimchi fries was they wished they could taste more kimchi. Thanks Union for the super hospitality. Will be back!
The vermicelli was so flavorless that I got pizza on the way home. The tsunami (drink) was good though.
Ordered the peanut noodles and the Bun pork belly noodles.
Fresh ingredients. Healthy choices. Your body will thank you especially if you have been binge eating fried chicken and poutine the night before.
Peanut noodles with chicken came looking fresh. Noodles was the right texture and chicken. Wasn’t over cooked.
The Bun bowl tasted like the fresh ocean breeze. The mint added for extra flavour so you don’t have to worry about kissing your date after. *wink
They could have added more pork belly in the Bun though.
I am so happy this pillar of Chinatown has been able to find a way to offer safe outdoor dining in the parking stalls and takeout during the new Covid 19 restrictions. Used the TOCK app to order pickup last night and was blown away by the value! $40 for two appies ( gyoza and spicy cucumbers), two mains ( Peanut Noodle Bowl and Korean Noodle Bowl) and desert!
Everything was fresh, super flavourful and the staff were genuinely stoked for the support!
Do yourself a favour and safe the Uber Eats delivery fees and pick up your take out! You will not be disappointed!
I’ve always wanted to try the Union and finally decided to get some takeout. We stopped by on the weekend, and tried some items off their brunch menu. I had the Korean Street Toast. I clearly didn’t read the description right, but was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was basically an egg sandwich that came with a side of hasbrowns. There’s options to choose what protein to go in the sandwich, and I went with the smoked tofu bacon. I also requested to have a side of sambal sauce to go with it. The bread was perfectly toasted and the sandwich was quite filling. It went well with the spice of the sambal. The hashbrowns weren’t anything special, but were tasty with some sambal. My sister had the bibimbap hash and it was a lot of food. This was definitely a satisfying meal. I do want to come back to try out their regular menu one day.
This is a take out experience. The places was quite empty, but seemed very COVID friendly with plexiglass placed in strategic places. The food is still amazing, and I would recommend !
