Great food, ambiance and service. I ordered a crab dish which was served on toast with an over easy egg and it was delicious and just the right portion. Liked the location and neighborhood as well. Will be returning.
The burger was very delicious. The bun is nice and soft with a great flavor from the high quality meat and caramelized onions. The decor is beautiful, very elegant and historical. Service was great as well.
Super unique historical LGBT spot in LA. The ambiance is energetic with great qi.This spot is great for work lunch, intimate meals or group fun.
The Black Cat is a wonderful neighborhood classic. Great wine and drinks with some solid food. Went here a bunch of times during the pandemic as they turned the neighboring parking lot into a dining room. You would order on your phone and they would bring it to your table. I got the cheeseburger and my wife for the chicken thighs. Always solid food here.
Horrible service!! Don’t get me wrong the place is great, drinks are good, but service is horrible! The waiters are with out of doubt rude, especially if you’re sitting at the tables, and not the bar. They will make you feel uncomfortable and force you off the dining table if you don’t order anything, but drinks. One waitress with a pixie cut was incredibly rude to my friends when ordering, and the second time I came in to Black Cat, she followed me to the bar and was very hostile towards me. She ordered me to sit back at the table, even though my friend and I were ordering just drinks and decided to go outside instead. She made a huge scene in front of everyone and her coworkers, which was very immature of her to do considering she’s working there. I complained to the other waiter who ultimately told the manager after. I hope he makes sure this doesn’t happen again, not just for myself, but for other customers in the area.
Hands down best burger and staff in LA. The mussels are also out of this world. We come here at least once a week… (problematic, I know!)
I hadn’t realized that I’d never eaten in the historic Black Cat until I went in the other night. Great place and so glad that this piece of LGBT history as survived this long. Whoever was the interior designer did an amazing amazing job. The art pieces mixed with the historical photos and papers. Just perfect.
Our food was fantastic. The service was great. I ordered the hamburger cause I heard it’s one of the best burgers in LA. I don’t know if I would put it in the top five but what I liked about it is that it was oddly light, even though it looked very heavy.
Definitely will be back.
THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTE TRASH AND A WASTE OF MONEY.
Came here on a Friday evening with a date. There were only a handful of people sitting inside, most were talking, not ordering food or drinks. Two bartenders and a couple barbacks were behind the bar they ignored us for over 20 minutes. No greeting or any sort of acknowledgment from anyone behind the bar , despite the fact that they all made repeated contact eye contact with both of us.
We waited and waited until finally my date flagged a bartender down and asked if we could order drinks. The bartender seemed annoyed that he had interrupted his chit chatting session with coworkers to provide us with service.
My date and I had the one drink and left immediately.
THE WORST VIBES AND POOR SERVICE HERE…would hate to see what it’s like when they’re “busy”
There are many places where your time and hard earned dollars are much better spent on this side of town, The Black Cat isn’t it…
One of the best burgers in town; charming interior; parking lot tables during COVID have been amazing. Great dirty martinis
Three times I have popped in for a meal and/or cocktails. Prompt service. Great staff. The outdoor picnic tables are the best.
