Taco Bueno

This has to be the worst taco bueno ever. The absolute worst customer service I’ve ever encountered! They never get an order right the first time and are disrespectful and hateful when they are expected to correct the order they messed up.

We ordered Chicken and Beef Chilada platters because my husband used to LOVE Taco Bueno and hasn’t had it in ten years.
We couldn’t finish it.  Here’s why:
Refried Beans- dry and saltier than this review.
Rice- wet, clumpy, overcooked, no flavor.
Sour Cream- thin and runny and didn’t taste like it was real.
Beef- unflavored other than the 2 metric tons of salt they dumped on it.
Chicken- honestly not that bad but gave me gut gurgles.
The entire experience was subpar to the way they used to be.  Real sad because you’d think they would want to shine and EARN repeat customers during the pandemic.  I’d like to post more but I need to get my husband his blood pressure meds and elevate my feet so my ankles don’t swell.

Another update because I noticed some (honestly kind of big) changes from my last visit!

So the first thing I want to mention is that they were sadly out of guac the last time I was there.  However, they were kind enough to compensate for this by adding in an extra queso and some dessert.  So I appreciated this, even though I was still sad about not having guac, and I felt like it was worth mentioning the good customer service!

Speaking of the queso, it’s different!!!  When I first saw it I was very concerned, because it had lots of these dark little specs in it (I thought maybe it had somehow gone bad or something?).  A few seconds later though I realized that it was actually just lots of little bits of jalapeño and that their queso is a new recipe.  I liked the old taco bueno queso, but this one is also good!  The main difference is the spice level.  With many more jalapeño bits now than before, it’s definitely got quite a bit more heat to it and also has much more of that jalapeño flavor of course.

For me (having a high tolerance for spice), I thought the spiciness was on the lower side of “medium” spicy, maybe even just the higher side or average of what I’d consider “mild”… however, for people who can’t take the heat as well, I can see how this would be way too spicy for them!  While I personally enjoyed the change to this queso, I’m also very curious about if they still offer the original kind.  If not, I think they definitely should bring it back as an option (like have both quesos to choose from)! Otherwise they may loose quite a few customers, especially since queso tends to be something picky eaters and non spicy lovers can have as a “safe” option, and with this more unique and spicy version that’s not true anymore! Even I wouldn’t mind getting to go back to the OG TB queso every once in a while if it were an option.

Anyway, I thought that was kind of a big thing since taco bueno staples really haven’t ever changed before.  I wonder what else they may have changed recently that I haven’t noticed yet…  I’m sure there’s more because of the new owners (or whatever they are called when it’s a franchise).

Overall I’m glad that they are trying to sort of revamp Taco Bueno, and specifically I think the queso change is better mostly because it’s now less generic tasting so it stands out more, but it shouldn’t be a replacement for the normal, less spicy, kind.

I wouldn’t even give them one star they get a half a star I do not recommend going to this taco Bueno ever before 7 o’clock in the morning and afternoon staff don’t give a shit and our rudehell

I love Bueno’s food. I was just there not even 15 minutes ago in the drive thru. The older man taking my order for me was very rude, practically threw my food at me once it was finished. I arrived home to find queso all in the bag, covering the bag of chips and my burrito. I suppose I’ll have to make a small drive in order to get better service.. This Bueno has been awful every time I went!
