While pretty pricey, the food here was amazing and they offered such a nice variety of food. I’m going to miss them a lot but luckily they have other locations which I’ll check out in the future.

What I got:

Chicken Katsu –
It’s good and well executed. A solid pick if you’re craving katsu but it didn’t stand out for me.

Karaage w/ rice cake –
The karaage is so good. At some spots it can get be under seasoned or greasy but here it was light, crispy, juicy, and flavorful all in one bite. Absolutely loved it.

I also had a few of their asian flavored inspired baked goods (not pictured because I got too excited and forgot) and they were all really good.

It seems strange to review a restaurant that you know will be closing soon, but…

I made a recent trip to the Asian Art Museum, deciding to break for lunch at their café. What did we find? Packaged snacks, cookies, and beverages. That’s it. Why? Because the café was closing the next month. What this probably means is that the Asian Art Museum has gone with a different concessionaire to run their café space and Sunday Bakeshop decided to stop provisioning the café as a result. “Yeah, we’re going to run out the contract, but nothing more than the minimum.” My lunch at the museum was a badly-prepared chocolate chip cookie and a cup of coffee. My husband skipped the budget-supermarket-grade cookie and had a bag of wasabi peas with his coffee. Undoubtably the worst museum dining I have ever experienced.

So why review? It’s clear which party is responsible here. Sunday Bakeshop decided to pack it in. They are the ones responsible for the café operations. Should I have the opportunity to visit Sunday Bakeshop, I’ll remember this experience and steer clear, since it’s obvious what they think of their customers. One star for corporate misbehavior.

A great place to escape the rain on a weekday afternoon. It didn’t seem like you needed a ticket to visit the cafe, but we had bought a museum ticket to see the galleries. Our snack break at Sunday was terrific. The cashier was so helpful and took time to walk us through all of our options. We enjoyed a spam musabi, black tea boba drinks, and a dim sum cookie. We were told all of the treats are made in house and the dim sum cookie (covered with black and white sesame seeds and filled with red bean paste) was delicious and paired perfectly with our boba drinks.

Dropped by the museum for a relaxing Friday afternoon, and the restaurant was pretty quiet with a handful of small groups scattered around. Getting my food was a quick and easy process, and they checked for proof of vaccination at the counter.

I ordered the Pork Belly Bao ($11) and plain Earl Grey Tea ($4). The Bao is listed as a “snack” item, but to me it was plenty of food for lunch. While the pork belly was good, it was the cenzo aioli sauce and pickled veggies that really stood out to me. The steamed bun was also soft and delicious.

The prices are a bit on the higher side, but nothing unusual for a museum. If you’re looking to feed your family on a budget, I’d probably look elsewhere for food. You also have to finish all of your drinks inside the restaurant before heading back to the galleries (which is totally understandable).

Overall, the good food and clean setting makes this place a win. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. 🙂

This review is focused on the tea options provided by Boba Guys, as I didn’t end up ordering food. (However, my friend got the chicken king katsu and said they felt it was worthwhile overall in spite of the high price for it because the meat was juicy and well-cooked.)

I ordered a tie guan yin tea, 75% sweet, which comes with Straus dairy milk. It’s rather pricey given it’s a pretty small sized cup, which is typical for Boba Guys portion sizes, though I did think it was at least not too sweet and the ratio of tea to milk is good if you’re someone who doesn’t like your tea too bitter and still want to be able to taste it. There’s seating inside, mostly smaller tables but there’s another side room to the cafe where you can have a bigger group.

After a fun afternoon visit to TeamLab Continuity, we were famished. It had been years since I visited but I remembered good food at steep prices. I was pleasantly surprised to see a menu with various options and price points.  After showing proof of vaccination, we placed our orders and nabbed a corner table.  My daughter was thrilled that she could have boba with her meal of Sunday fries and popcorn chicken. I was happy with my bowl of comfy warmth.  It’s a gem of a museum cafe.

I had tickets for TeamLab at the Asian Art Museum, so it was the perfect time to try out Sunday at the Museum. I’ve always been a big fan of Deuki Hong and his food, so was really excited to stop by.

Seating is first come, first serve, so it may be a little difficult to grab a spot when it’s busy. Vaccination is required to dine in, so what I did was order first while my partner found a seat, had my vaccination status checked, and told the cashier that I was eating with someone else. The server came by to check vaccination afterwards. When it’s busy though, this isn’t always consistent.

We ordered a popcorn chicken with five spice seasoning, curry noodles, pork belly buns, the white rabbit chocolate cookie, and the Boba Guys blue pea lemonade (which is only available here). My favorites were the popcorn chicken and pork belly buns. I’ve had the popcorn chicken before at a popup, but the chicken is so crispy and the addition of the crunchy rice cakes makes it even better. Fried rice cakes should be added to things more often–I decided that after having this dish :^) The pork belly was seasoned very well, and I loved the flavor and fat/lean content of the meat. Everything else was good, but not as standout to me (should have ordered the katsu).

This was one of the more interesting museum dining experiences that I’ve had, and definitely had a positive impact on my visit here. If I ever come around to the museum again, I’d definitely make it a point to eat here!

The food is delicious and the service is friendly! I had the chicken king katsu – the portion is good and will leave you full, you’ll love the crispy sliced cutlets and the way they cut the chicken bone so that it’s easy to chomp on. They also have a white rabbit candy/peppermint holiday cookie that I will crave over and over again. We didn’t wait long for our food, our waiter was friendly and quick.

This is a pretty cute place to stop by for some snacks. There is one dining room that is super artsy, almost like your in a fancy touristy European spot. I was only able to stop by for a bit and was trying to pick up a particular item. They have a couple of options for prepared hot and cold items as well as a menu for food from their kitchen. I had come that day to pick up a drink that they had advertised on IG just the day before as “available”. Unfortunately when I got there, they said that they did not have the product. Usually I don’t mind and can understand these situations, but I had waited hours after I got off work for them to open so that I could buy it, and I only did so because they had advertised it as available.  The cashier was nice otherwise and kindly apologized.  Hopefully if I come by next time, I can have a better experience.

Just went to the museum for their special Continuity exhibit (highly recommend). My family and I decided to dine-in at the cafe since it’s Asian food, and we love Asian food. We’ve dined in at other museum cafes, but Sunday at the Museum is definitely one of the better ones. We all got Boba for drinks, Spam Musubi (much better than the Spam Musubi at Ramenwell I recently ate at), the Curry Noddles, Bibimbap, and Popcorn Chicken. I kind of wish I tried the Kimchi Salt Fries, but I’ll have to go back next time. We got our food quickly and the service was great! Would definitely visit again and try their changing menus.
