Added pics this time.. we did a soup this time, it was ok. We also ordered spicy basil entree, but was same as noodles without noodles. Do not order both together, I will stick with spicy noodles.

I normally love this place. I know they have new ownership-so I’ll give them a chance. Was very disappointed with the tofu pad Thai I ordered tonight, didn’t have the wider rice noodles like it should and was lacking flavor. 🙁

I have been going to Star for 32 years and seen a number of owners. I really don’t like giving bad reviews because we’re all trying our best. I’m hoping the new owners read this review and fix the things I feel have really slipped.  we are not going back, which is sad cuz we usually took out once a week.
there are a number of suggestions/criticisms but mainly it was the attitude. also I asked if it was the same chef and they said yes. so I guardedly asked if they could cook my food (Coconut Chicken Soup and Masaman Beef) without sugar (diabetic) as the previous two owners. I was told flatly “no”. I asked if she could at least ask the chef, who has known me for many years. she came back saying “no”.  so…I can’t really tell you if the food is better or worse…judge for yourselves.

BEST THAI IN SANTA CRUZ!!! This place is wonderful, the only thing better than the food what the service! In particular, our sever Rose was one of the best servers I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. She told us all about Thailand and where we should go when we visit. Most Thai restaurants don’t make it “Thai spicy” but let me tell you, (if requested) they will put fresh red chilies in their dishes. SO GOOD! Rose actually grows these chilis at her house and brings them into the restaurant to ensure freshness. 10/10 would recommend this place

New owners so things have changed.  Some good was much better Pad Thai and silver noodle salad were much improved.  The salad was not drenched with dressing but had the perfect amount.
Some things were not so good ….  I thought their meat portions were much smaller ( yes I am used to the American Thai that has more meat ) . A lot more of filler vegetables in the curries.  I am hoping this will change.
I will order again and hopefully change this review.  I know the new owners are trying their best.

Iv enjoyed this place for many many years but now I’m not to happy with it any longer … Iv spent a lot here . The original owner food was superior sense then not as good  my last big order for my family was on Sunday so maybe not the top cook that day . I think Iv tryed to give them the benefit of the doughy enough times and now I’m done!!! I do not like the paper products they use for take out and I feel the portion for take out are smaller. The garlic beef was watery and boring. The papaya salad bitter and blah  the original owners would put actual large shrimp in the pineapple rice and now they put those small lil shrimp !!! Food cost are so high now it’s not worth paying for disappointing food

I haven’t eaten at very many Thai restaurants so I don’t have much to compare it to. I forget the name of the rice dish I ate but it was tasty. It included shrimp and cut up sausage that was cooked in a sweet sauce. I would definitely go here again.

I am look for the perfect pad thai. I tried the place down the street and it didn’t make the cut.

I was much happier with Star of Siam. The dish was flavorful. It had enough shrimp. The only thing I needed was a wedge of lime for that added brightness. They may provide a lime on the plate but I did take out.

So far of the places near work this is my

Our first dinner on the first night of our NorCal roadtrip.

Their Potstickers are alright, worthy app. You get six. We ordered via Grubhub and I had to request a refund for the Papaya Salad because they gave us a Thai Salad instead. To give credit where it’s due, the peanut dressing is delicious, as they claim.
Pad See You is made in oil that isn’t as fresh as it could be – there’s a noticeable aftertaste.
Massamun Curry is a good way to get your vegetables.
I can’t resist Mango Sticky Rice, though their mango could have been more ripe.

The menu is huge, over 100 items, all drastically different. I’m sure this place has potential, but they might do better off they focused more.
