Hello again everyone I’m back with a new review. I first heard about this place a few months ago by watching Top Chef and the owner was on it. Food was great. Service was great and the ambiance was really good. This was our first time eating in Morristown and I plan on going back and trying something new. Place was busy so obviously people like this place. I also like the fact that you could semi watch the chefs cooking the food and that’s a bonus to me.

I’ve heard good things about this place so I brought my mother for dinner on a Saturday night.  It was so dark we could not read the menus without flashlights.    The wait staff was attentive. I asked if the pumpkin and coconut soup was served hot and they said yes. I ordered that and a salad with the dressing on the side. The soup came cold and the salad was covered in dressing.  I was frustrated.  Got a new soup that was warm and ate a small amount of salad. I wouldn’t eat here again. Too busy, too dark and the staff seemed frazzle.

They were very accommodating.  We had a reservation for a  party of about 15 for a post-funeral brunch.  Everyone was able to order what they wanted and everyone liked the food.  The service was a bit slow but understandable for a Saturday afternoon and such a big group.  There was no pressure to leave and everyone was able to take their time and chat and enjoy the food.

We’ve tried South Pine several times, and really cannot understand why it’s a favorite in Morristown. We started with appetizers of the chicken “lollipops.” Those were quite large chicken drumsticks, cooked well and not incinerated as most restaurants in the area cook their chicken wings.  However, it was 45 minutes between the appetizers and the entrees. The burger was a colossal stack on an english muffin. The burger, very oddly shaped as a cylinder rather than a patty, was ordered medium rare, but was well done to killed, and the stack had to be deconstructed in order to eat it, and at that, not a great tasting burger and certainly not for that price. A brioche would have been a better choice. My partner ordered the salmon, which was stone cold and we had to ask for it to be microwaved (a kitchen sin) in order to warm it, rather than risking another hour for a fresh one to be prepared, plus for that price, I hate waste.   I had the short ribs, which were very dry and very cold in the middle. Didn’t seem freshly cooked to me. Server was very nice, but seemed spread too thin. Not his fault as I’m sure everyone is still understaffed.

Good food with a hipster vibe. Had a bunch of items off the menu with a different people over the years. Not my style, but tasty food of a wide variety. Excellent place for young folks and older people trying to be cool. The people who work here really work hard.

I came for brunch before and thought this was a great place. More recently I came for dinner and my impression was that it was overpriced for what it was. I ordered the short ribs and the meat itself was cooked well but the overall presentation and taste was lacking. Needs to have a sauce or reduction to balance out the flavor and add to the bland farro. For a $36 price tag I’m expecting more. The steak and fries were good. Steak was cooked well but overall it wasn’t memorable. Service was great so cannot say anything less about it. Also BYOB so that was a plus.

Wow. I was honestly very impressed. Brunch is not a meal I go out for that often and this was my first brunch in a long time. South and Pine was excellent in many ways. We made a reservation for opening time which is 11am on the weekends. Place was already packed and on a beautiful November day the outdoor seating was no longer available.

My sister and I ordered the burrata to start. So delicious. It comes with bacon and onion jam, caramelized figs, hazelnut crumble, and bourbon honey. What a symphony of flavors! We finished that quickly and also asked for an accompaniment of bread and butter which doesn’t come out unless you ask.

I ordered the biscuits and gravy with poached eggs. Yum! Finished every last drop. My only complaint was that the biscuits weren’t bigger!! My sister ordered the sweet potato hash. Omg also excellent! Very unique flavors and so tasty.

The place is BYOB!

It was a really awesome meal and way to start my Morristown staycation with my sister. Would recommend to anyone.

Good food, but not too many options; menu is somewhat limited. Also very very pricey.

Came here for brunch with some friends and decided to get the chicken and waffles (Fried Chix 2.0). It’s a bit pricey but tasted really good. Decor was interesting to look at while we waited for our food. Gratuity was automatically added to the bill since we were a group of 7, but I usually tip at least 20% anyway, so it didn’t bother me.
