I was in the area, and chose this café at random. I ordered an omelette and my partner ordered chicken schnitzel. I was impressed at the size of the portions, and my omelette was excellent, with cheese, mushroom and tomato, and a nice garnish. It came with two bruschetta slices, which were a great complement.
The schnitzel was generous in size and had a tub of gravy larger than I would have expected. It came with thick-cut chips.
I had a large flat white and it was very good.
I thought the value for what I paid was very good. I didn’t expect the size of the meals, and it was a good thing too, because we were both hungrier than we thought we were!
Nice place. Extremely popular with the locals, so if your planning a breakfast you’ll need to get the early.
Service is good in fact the guy helped us thru the menu. I’d certainly go back.
I love coffee and trying new cafes. However, this one left a bitter taste in my mouth.
They seem to have plenty of staff wandering around but the service is lacking. They don’t seem interested in serving and a little surprised that someone would ask something of them.
At first I thought it was table service. It looked like a place that would have table service. So my wife and I sat at a table and read through the menu. Once decided I called over a staff member who was just standing around and she told us to order from the counter. Off I went.
I ordered coffee and an omelette. You can choose three ingredients for your omelette. I named three but the person at the register kept telling me I had to order another ingredient and was quite forceful about it. I was a little confused and a bit put out but ended up with four ingredients.
My wife ordered scrambled eggs on toast.
Hers took longer than expected. But mine took ages. So long that I had to chase it up. My wife had almost finished hers. Maybe it was the fourth ingredient that slowed it down?
Anyway, it looked great. But looks was all it had. There was no taste. No seasoning. It was bland and chewy.
My wife’s scrambled eggs was lacking seasoning too.
So that was the food. On to the coffee.
The coffee has a weird taste. It’s hard to describe. It left a strange aftertaste in my mouth. It wasn’t great.
Hopefully they’ll sort these things out.
I was left to wait to be served will a staff member finished scrubbing down a cabnet. There was nothing special about the coffee or the café. It smells like a place people come to openly poo their pants.
This little place is amazing for the area especially if you enjoy and appreciate speciality coffee as Leaf Cafe have their own roasted house blend.
Food options is great, 6 pages of options from all day breakfast, to burgers and salads.
Locals love this little spot which clearly shows as every weekend the house if full of buzz. Can get super busy but food takeaway is also an option.
TIP: call in if you want a table of more than 2
Food TIP: Every meal is a decent size serving so come hungry
The coffee is fine but the meals are very mediocre. The first time i ate here they forgot my order and kept me waiting ages even though i kept asking where my order was. The 2nd time i ate here my burger patty was served half raw and saturated in oil. Its such a shame as The Ponds needs great cafes, hopefully The Leaf Café picks up their game soon
So average and so disappointed. My newest local cafe and just such a let down for food.
Food took ages (and had to be chased)
Got my order wrong
Hubby omlette was as chewy as my much needed gum afterwards
Customer service was dismal and the waitresses potted around seemingly unaware of the customers they should be serving
I have been to a few leaf cafe
