I am SO impressed by the staff and food here. I ordered the French Onion Soup, which was so well presented: the cheese was melted on the edges of the bowl and adorned the dish. Not to mention, it was absolutely fantastic!
My friends ordered the burger and duck and all absolutely raved their dishes. We shared a charcuterie board (the first option) and loved every item.
For drinks, I highly recommend the Passion Fruit cocktail which has a REALLY strong spice kick. SO good! But beware, if you’re sensitive to spice. My friend’s lips got tingly, but if you’re used to spice you’ll be just fine!! The Lemon 75 was very subtle and sweet – I’d recommend this too!
I wish I could give 6 stars. We were celebrating my best friends engagement and they offered me the option of a bubbly or dessert, but they ended up serving both. How absolutely sweet of them!!
Jules is the perfect little French bistro. The interior is warm and inviting with a lovely bar. We were tucked into a four top near the window and very cozy.
Lovely server took wonderful care of us. We had a couple of bourbon whiskey sours, frothy and tart.
We started with the charcuterie and cheese board duo. We were a bit intimidated by the generous portion, but managed to polish it all off. The selections were classic, with excellent cheeses. The grainy mustard and assorted conserves added the usual spice and sweetness.
I had the duck confit and my friend had the ribeye. The duck was heavenly, with perfectly crisp and lacquered skin that played off the cool and vinegar-y dressed greens underneath. My friend’s ribeye was perfectly cooked medium rare, and the ginormous mound of fries with mayonnaise were abut as decadent as you can get.
We sadly skipped dessert, but left happy and full.
Wonderful service. Great wine list. Nice atmosphere. We had the French Onion Soup, Bistro Salad, and Steak Frites. All were just okay. Nothing to write home about.
Our dinner at Jules Bistro was wonderful, and service was impeccable. I highly recommend the scallops with mushroom risotto and the cherry clafoutis. The fish dish with spinach and truffled potato pancake was good but not as delicious as the scallops and risotto. Service was wonderful and leisurely with breathers between courses, very relaxed the with the perfect level of attentiveness. Best decaf coffee I’ve ever had in my life! We sat outside on the patio, and the tables were nicely spaced.
Food was fantastic! Great service, amazing wine and traditional French food. Recommended 100%!
Adorable nitro with indoor and outdoor dining. We came for an early dinner one night and loved the food and our waitperson, a lively and friendly lady from Brazil. We wanted to dine there again on our last night in Vancouver but had too much to do and couldn’t make it back. So sad.
I tried poutine in Toronto once and didn’t like it. She recommended trying their French version. It was fabulous and I wanted more. The peppercorn infused gravy was over crispy tater tots. It was so good. Their $68 CAD 4 course dinners are a steal but we don’t have huge appetites so we ordered 2 entrees and shared a dessert.
My scallop risotto was cooked perfectly with tender scallops and richly flavored asparagus risotto. Hubby had the duck confit and really liked his dinner. The chocolate tart was oozing with melty chocolate. I could’ve eaten there the entire week during our stay and would have been content.
Everything was delicious. Not crazy fancy or innovative, but super ugly put together and tasty. Loved it.
This place is adorable and sooooo delicious. We needed something to warm us up after walking around Gastown and followed the reviews about the fantastic French onion soup…and we were not disappointed!! Bursting with flavor and so filling. Also, a great wine list and our server had great recommendations. Service is impeccable and the place itself is so cute! And they were playing classic cafe music so the vibe was flawless. We went at lunch so it was much quieter, only us and a few other patrons. (Two of which were a couple of very rowdy, loud guys who sat at the bar and talked the ear off the servers…let me tell you, the waitress had the patience of a god, lol.) Will definitely be coming back whenever we’re in Vancouver!
One of the worst places in this city, horrible food and service, I’m not a picky person but service was rude and horrible food was very very bad, don’t recommend this place at all
Update: Post pandemic.
Everything was really good, love the hot French bread with soft butter. Only thing I didn’t care for was the gluten free chickpea flat bread but that was free so whatever.
Go after 5:30 for the special “table d’hote dinner” where you get to select a 3 course meal for only $42.50 with generous servings. Totally worth it.
