I stopped by Jobot twice during my last stay downtown. Both visits were good!
The first was to get their cold brew, which was very nice. Smooth and drinkable, with no cream needed, just as it should be. It’s a bit funny to see as it’s much more bar than cafe, but their coffee/espresso drinks were surprisingly good.
The second was to try their michelada, which looked quite appetizing from the Yelp pics. It’s quite a big drink, with a nicely seasoned rim. My only comment is that I’m partial to a spicier base, so I’ll just have to ask them to make it extra spicy nice time and see how it goes.
I came in today for the first time and went straight to the register to order hot tea or maybe some ice cream – to just be served in general! I spotted an employee by the bar and I was not acknowledged for the entire 4 to 5 minutes I was standing around there waiting. I mean, she may have been busy but she definitely spotted me there and could’ve said a quick “be right there with you!”. I couldn’t stand the standoffishness so I bounced!
Used to love this place. Today, I spent $8.42 on an almond milk mocha. It was not as good as I remember and much more expensive. If you’re going to raise the price on the cheapest commodity in your establishment (coffee) – you’d better find a way to make it AMAZING. I could have gotten this paper cup of milk coffee anywhere for less than this.
Still a cool place to chill, but won’t be getting a mocha anymore.
Me and my friend stopped here when taking a walk downtown. The place is very dark, or dimmed inside. It wasn’t overly loud but still wasn’t effective for a conversation if you sit inside. Me and my friend only stopped here to get some ice cream! I personally had the circus cookie ice cream.
The presentation of the ice cream was cute! The little box and fortune cookie was unique and perfect for sizing. The ice cream wasn’t overly sweet but was still satisfying. I would definitely return for another scoop!
Jobot is the coolest place downtown. During the day it has Mexican food, at night it has Thai food, and is always a coffee shop, bar, and has the ice cream section. The vibes here are 10/10, something you can’t replace anywhere else. Their staff is friendly and very accommodating.
There have been “changes” as some of these review mentioned, however it’s all to better the atmosphere and experience for everyone who comes in! Be patient and ask questions instead of assuming the worst and thinking this “change” is to drive people away 😉
My friend and I went for a walk down Roosevelt. I mentioned I knew a place that sold ice cream but didn’t know it by name. There’s always a sign outside lightly promoting it.
Today we stopped by and walked through the patio as directed. There were about 10 flavors of ice cream to choose from. The place had converted to the night life scene so it was a little loud but we happily got our ice cream and continued our stroll down the street.
We both got the animal cracker cookie ice cream. I’d want more animal crackers in it as there were only three little pieces and it was about $7.50/per scoop/per person. It had sprinkles as well. Decent flavor, was pretty sweet but overall tasty.
Attentive service from the moment my wife and I walked in. Server provided menu, explained coffee options, and frequently checked in with us. The food was delicious. The cook on duty knew exactly what he was doing. I even told the server it was the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. Thank you for quality service that is hard to find nowadays. Keep up the great work!
This was my second time visiting this bar, though I live in walking distance lol but it was nice to stop by again. The first time I went in, there was odd decor, headless baby dolls, weird trinkets, and things of that sort. I was surprised to see it looking “modern.” I thought they baby dolls was the regular aesthetic lol but the owner shared that she just felt lazy and left the Halloween decorations up from last year. I giggled, and joked that she should have just kept them up, because Halloween is right around the corner! Lol but I guess she has a different theme in mind for this coming year.
But, this is a really cool place to chill at. The drinks are affordable, the menu looks good, and they have ice cream! I also enjoy the music they play. I should visit more often since it’s walking distance. Maybe when it cools down, because that Phoenix heat is no joke! Lol
I used to love going here for over a year but over time there have just been more and more changes for the worse.
First it was the menus being moved to online only without adjusting their prices. Next it was being unable to follow through with half of their orders due to not stocking ingredients properly. The worst thing though is the sudden change from Asian food to only sometimes serving a sub par Asian menu and serving a completely different “Corn Man” level Mexican food priced at steak house menu prices the other days, all of which is unlisted outside their restaurant and poorly described on their menus.
Barring the recent changes to their menu, their ambience has gone from cozy downtown bar to empty pretentious Portuguese club. I would steer clear until things change for the better and they can figure out what they want to be.
The Thai chef who is there 6-close Tuesday-Sunday makes amazing food. Their name is MAY. She’s energetic, fun, and bright! I have been here before but this time just for a snack and a drink. They have a dj (DJ SUEÑO) on Thursday sometimes and it’s awesome! Jobot has been a place I’ve been going to since 2017, they also house MELT a local ice cream shop that downsized years ago. You can get MELT ice cream here and Thai food, it’s also a coffee shop, it’s also a bar! It’s everything in one, and just a cool spot to hang. 10/10 always. They have specials sometimes too, follow them online or something.
