Prepare for the waiter to up sell you like a cheap Vegas hooker. This was worse than any Morton’s or other. Our red headed waiter was relentless. Yuck.
Hands-down the best restaurant in Charleston!
Hands-down the best restaurant in Charleston! From the service to the food itself it was one of the best experiences I have had in a while. I got the oysters and they were so fresh and delicious. It is a high class Atmosphere with excellent service who are knowledgeable about everything on the menu and every wine on the extensive wine list. I highly recommend going here. If you were on a trip to Charleston, it is worth every single penny. It is simply the best.
Very expensive ! It’s a Halls restaurant, but without good food or service . I ordered rack of lamb that was served raw and tasted awful! To their credit they took it off the bill. The restaurant was so noisy we couldn’t hear each other talk! We will not go back .
We’ve been to High Cotton many times since moving here in 2012. Tonight will be our last visit. The prices are ridiculous. I expect to pay $50 for a steak with no sides or salad at Halls.. but this is not Halls. They may own High Cotton but the food and service are nowhere near what you get at Halls. It was a good 10 minutes after we were sorted before our drink order was taken and another 10-15 minutes before they were served. The food was not good. My husband ordered his lamb medium rare. It came out raw and cold. My grouper was more like a thin slab of flounder. The she crab soup had a good flavor but there was no crab!! Besides the bad food, it was so loud we literally had to yell at each other, it was freezing. We all had to leave our coats on. The experience was not enjoyable. We all left feeling we would have been better off going to Longhorn. We could have gotten a great steak and a good bottle of wine and it wouldn’t have cost us $250. Sad.
Amazing dining experience! The food, atmosphere and service were exceptional. If in Charleston, it’s a must!
First Thanksgiving since my MIL passed, thought it would be better to NOT be home so we ate here. I just want to thank the staff who work so hard and give up their holiday so that others have an option to not be home.
The Hostess was lovely gave us a window seat so we could people watch, our waiter Jackson was really superb. Shout out for great service today!
The She Crab was so fantastic that we each had two bowls with champagne. We opted for a traditional Turkey dinner which was delicious and pecan pie for dessert that was sticky, toasty and everything you want.
We typically don’t eat out for holidays but we want to thank High Cotton for helping us through this tough holiday!
We went there for thansgiving. They were one of the few establishment open for dinner in Charleston. They are welcoming, kid friendly and even had a vegan thanksgiving plate! Also the live music was a great addition. Highly recommend – if not just for the vegan option.
Nice restaurant, great food, live music, fun atmosphere! We had a group of 9, food was so good and the service was great. We are oysters, she crab soup, seafood platter, steak, lobster, redfish and it was all wonderful!
I had really high expectations for High Cotton and booked a reservation for my birthday dinner. Everyone was friendly and I received tons of birthday wishes and champagne. Where the experience fell short unfortunately was in regards to my dairy allergy. When making the reservation I specified that I had one. I felt secure since there was a place to put that on the actual reservation. Nice restaurants and servers typically work with you when you disclose this! At High Cotton, the server said “I see milk written on the reservation – so I’m guessing you either really like it or can’t have it!” and the joke about the allergy was off-putting for sure. It doesn’t seem like my allergy was accounted for from there. I dine very carefully and usually have servers advise me on what to order/not order, but our server did not help. Unfortunately something contained dairy and my dinner ended abruptly when my allergic reaction of hives set in. Food was tasty, but I’ve had plenty of nice meals that do not lead me to a full face of hives.
Excellent… I mean so good. The only thing I was not impressed with was my drink. It was ok. But my dinner great! I had the steak martini and shrimp cocktail off the bar food menu. I’ll say it again my food was excellent…. The filet bites mixed with the in house fresh made mashed potatoes with brown gravy melted in my mouth. My lemon blackberry cheese cake was a sweeet needing. Very clean and classy place.
