Two stars for the service. Everyone that works there is beyond nice.

Garlic knots – recommended

Caprese Salad – Skip. Mozzarella was not fresh and very chewy. The tomato was not ripe and cute into huge pieces.

Meatballs – about the same as a cafeteria. Couldn’t even get my 13 year old to eat them.

I have always enjoyed their salads and gourmet pizzas.

The TOGO CONTAINER IS NOT MICROWAVE SAFE.

Normally when we want to eat out for pizza, we make a beeline for either Zachary’s or Patxi’s since we were raised on Chicago-style deep dish pizza.  But once in a blue moon we get a craving for New York thin crust.  When this happens, we typically follow the path of least resistance and go to the place that’s just a short walk away, but on a recent evening decided to make the drive to check this place out.

When didn’t expect too much from the location when we rolled up.  It’s located in a dated strip mall between a liquor store and a Chinese restaurant, but when we entered we found a spacious, well-lit dining area with the kitchen in the back where there was a bevy of activity around the pizza ovens.  We were greeted warmly and invited to sit anywhere we pleased.

Giovanni’s has a really large menu – in addition to pizza, it offers a variety of pastas, sandwiches, and entrees such as chicken piccata and eggplant parmagiana.  We stuck with the pizza on this visit, with some fries and garlic knots for appetizers.  The garlic knots were delicious and super garlicky, just the way they’re supposed to be.  Our large pizza was well-covered with cheese and the toppings that we chose.  The crust was nice and crispy, which made the slices easy to hold but a little difficult to fold, if you like to do that sort of thing.  For dessert we decided to try one of their cannolis,  The shell was properly fried and had that crisp crack that you expect from these confections.  The filling had a slightly grainy texture, indicating (to me, at least) a good amount of ricotta and less fillers like cream.

Service was prompt and friendly – our water glasses were regularly filled and someone came by periodically to check on us.  Great dining experience; we’ll be back for certain.

For family style pizza in Silicon Valley, you simply cannot beat Giovanni’s. The location is convenient and the restaurant itself is spacious and quite comfortable. The owners are wonderful people, staff is helpful and accommodating, and, most important, the pizza is *very* good and a good value, too. The “Weight Watchers” special pizza is my personal favorite, but you cannot go wrong. Try Giovanni’s — you will be going back!

Been coming here since I was a kid or the moment I learned to sneak out so i can have their pizza just cz I didn’t want to eat veggies

it’s crazy how all the workers are the same folks and how they remember my usual order im glad that they remember me too since late 90s yes i am an elder millennial lol  Also size and quantity is still the same!

fast forward to adulthood I can proudly say that this is the only place in the bay that hits the spot as what new york style should be.
cant say much about the their pasta for theyre american style, which I’m not a fond of, no offence
but their sandwiches were good so no issues with those

last thing locals like myself knows they also own vitos (down on Lawrence and Reed) is another spot I go to since the Family prefers it

Can’t believe I overlooked this place, I pass by it all the time. After finally making my way in today, Giovanni’s just got a new regular. I got a simple cheese slice and it had me confused about what state I was in. The cheese, the sauce, the crisp in the crust was immaculate. Great slice of pizza!

I started going there with my boyfriend who has gone there for 20 years. I’ve only been going the last 5 years. The food is amazing. Everything I’ve tried. I’m Italian and it feels so authentic. The service is excellent. Friendly staff. The owner reminds me of my family and it feels comfortable being there. Great food and people.

We picked up 3 pizzas to go, one Sicilian, one gourmet and one pepperoni. All were excellent! Great crust, sauce and fresh toppings! Man I wish I had a pizza place half as good as Giovannis where I live! When I go thru Milpitas again, I’m definitely stopping here. Delicious!

More than just a pizzeria, Giovanni’s has a large menu that features hot and cold sandwiches, pastas, salads, and traditional Italian entree’s. I ordered the vegetarian pizza, my husband had the Philly Cheesesteak Hoagie, and my BIL had the Shrimp Parmigiana sandwich (an interesting idea). Both sandwiches got gobbled up and enjoyed. I had a lot of pizza left over, but that was because it was a lot for one person. I like that it included broccoli, but I would have preferred a bit more cheese. Still, it was a good pizza, and the service was spot on.

This place has really gone down hill. The pizza isn’t good anymore, and oh man is it greasy now! This had to have been the greasiest pizza I’ve ever eaten…ever. Also, the manager didn’t listen. I ordered 3 slices and got 2. And he tried to argue that I ordered 2 slices. Time to take this place off my list of go-to pizza places.
