Francescas has a great ambiance, especially in the outdoor courtyard. The food is a little bit on the pricey side but I would say it’s on par with other upscale Italian restaurants in the area. Most nights you need a reservation as they are always busy. Reservations can be difficult to get. I’d suggest calling several days in advance. The service has been great whenever we go and the food is even better! Make sure you save room for dessert or take some to go for later. The cakes are delicious. I definitely recommend for a nice dinner or special occasion.

The food was fantastic. The atmosphere is lively and good for younger people. It was really loud in there with booming music for this boomer. Ha, ha.

Easily the best restaurant in Syracuse. Unmatched service and incredible food. Has a great indoor area with a beautiful outdoor patio. Be sure to make reservations.

Outstanding service, intimate setting, delicious pasta and specialty dishes, and we appreciated the parking lot! My wife and I really enjoyed the bread and sauce as we sat down, the Utica greens app was perfectly spicy, cheese raviolis with pink vodka sauce was smooth and filling, and I am sure you cannot go wrong with their speciality menu. My wife had the scallop special and the scallops were a great size and the incorporation of apples alongside the risotto was spot on.

This place is soooo hard to grab reservations at, but it is truly some of the best Italian fare in upstate New York. You won’t go wrong with the local classic “Chicken Riggies” or any dish made with their famous “Pink Vodka Sauce”. If you want to feel like a local, be sure to try the “Utica-Style Greens”. The desserts here are also on point too – I really like the Butter Cake. It’s simply one of the better deserts I’ve ever had at a restaurant. All-in-all this is an amazing restaurant where the entire menu is awesome.

Visiting the area on business. I hadn’t eaten all day so I started looking up restaurants before I even left the airport. Francesca’s was highly rated so I decided to go for it.

I started with the Arancini which was delicious taste wise.. but it lukewarm and borderline cold like many others have experienced per their reviews. As soon as I finished it, I got a queasy feeling in my stomach. Let’s hope for the best on that front…

Still, I had high hopes because the marinara sauce served with the Arancini was flavorful and I always use that as an indicator of the quality of an Italian restaurant (lol). I next had a small salad with their special, I believe it was homemade, Italian dressing. The dressing was uniquely delicious and truly the highlight of my dinner. I started to feel much more hopeful at this point.

It was finally time for my entree of choice, chicken francese, one of my favorite dishes. Final verdict: Nope. Just nope. Zero flavor in the chicken or sauce except for a hint of lemon. It tasted like sauce that came out of a jar. I tried to dress it up with salt and pepper but it couldn’t be saved. I thought the portion size was generous, though, with two chicken breasts and a small serving of linguine. Usually it’s the other way around with a surplus of pasta and a skimpy amount of protein. Honestly, I regret not going for the chicken parm which may have been a home run given the fact that I enjoyed the marinara sauce so much. I guess I’ll never know!

Lastly, I can truly say it is a bit overpriced because the app and entree salad  came out to $45.00 which is on par with NYC prices. Yikes!

Would have ranked this among the best Italian restaurants in Syracuse a couple years ago, but it’s slid, both from a quality of food standpoint as well as customer service. When you refuse to light the outdoor gas lamps, sighting policy, when you give customers a time limit at their table, expect us to look elsewhere. I can make better Shrimp pasta at home, any day of the week.

This restaurant is overhyped and subpar for the upscale dining category it’s trying to pretend to be in. Bottom line, I was less than impressed with this basic and overpriced Italian restaurant. I genuinely feel bad for the tastebuds of the people that recommended this place to me.

Food – When i sat down, I looked at the menu and thought wow braciole? Homemade gnocchi? This place seems legit. They definitely had many options that you could only get from an authentic Italian restaurant.
They provided bread and sauce before our main meal arrived and it was just a basic okay bread. I ordered the “homemade” gnocchi which I thought would be outstanding. Blah. It was served lukewarm, over cooked and probably not homemade. The tomato sauce was a huge disappointment. I had three bites and couldn’t tolerate it anymore. I did have the tuxedo cake for dessert and it was phenomenal. They had a decent wine list and some pretty interesting looking drinks.

Ambiance – The decor of the restaurant was very cute. It was very loud and lively so definitely a great place to meet friends and have a good time.

Service – The service was okay for a diner. However, it was really lacking for a dinner restaurant. I just was not impressed at all.

Definitely go and try the dessert but don’t bother with the rest of the menu.
