Don’t pay 8 dollars for the chips and salsa. The food was delicious but lettuce doesn’t belong inside burritos.
I’m biased, ok?! I’ve been to California enough times to experience their Mexican food and it’s always absolute perfection there. Because of the authentic Mexican food I’ve had in California, and the authentic Mexican food I’ve had from some of my relatives, I have pretty high standards when it comes to Mexican food. It also happens to be my favorite kind of food… That being said, I’ve felt there is this void in my heart and soul here in Seattle because I haven’t yet discovered any incredible Mexican food here. And believe me, I’ve tried. After a recent trip to Los Angeles filled with delicious tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and margaritas, my boyfriend and I returned to Seattle with Mexican food still on the brain. Our good eats in LA weren’t enough — we needed more Mexican food. I did some intense searching online and saw El Legendario mentioned many times. I read many of the reviews and the majority were very positive. So, we hopped in the car and headed over to the restaurant. The service was fine — nothing exceptional, nothing bad. Just average. The restaurant itself was nice, however, it definitely could’ve been cleaner. I ordered some enchiladas and a virgin strawberry margarita, and my boyfriend ordered a burrito and an ~alcoholic~ strawberry margarita. For starters, something that was a bit odd to us: we couldn’t easily distinguish the alcoholic marg from the non-alcoholic one. They tasted almost the exact same. Fortunately, I didn’t need non-alcoholic for any reason other than the fact I didn’t feel like having alcohol at that moment, but still… it was weird. I think I was given the alcoholic one when we were served, and it took me a bit to notice the tequila hitting me. My boyfriend and I then took a bit of time to try and figure out… was any tequila hitting me? Was it all in my head? Or did they really mix them up???? I think we eventually figured it out, but it was a little strange. I’ve just never had that happen before. The food itself was good, but not great. Not enough to satisfy that Mexican food craving. Our experience here wasn’t bad by any means, but I have no urge to go back!
Couldn’t be tastier! The lamb birria was all I could have wanted. It was unctuous, tender, and brimming with the slightly gamey flavor of fatty lamb slow cooked in a flavorful consume. The taco was stuffed full of the birria and just enough cheese to bind it as it was crisped to perfection on the plancha. The consume was so good that I drank it all after dipping the taco in it. I’ll be back to try other dishes.
I have never had a birria taco before until today and have been wanting to try it ever since I saw a video on Instagram of one. This is literally the best taco I have ever had. The queso was spicy, but so delicious. The carnitas had so much flavor and the margaritas were only $7. This was a very quality, authentic Mexican restaurant with not so expensive food. The service was good. We will definitely be back.
Really good food with amazingly generous portions. Subtle and unique ingredient combinations. A gem in an odd location but plenty of seating or fast to go service.
Food was good but the service sucked. Server kept going back and forth to her “white customers” but she never came to me and my boyfriend and they didn’t give us silverware or napkins to begin with
I love el legendario! This place is an awesome small business with great food and atmosphere. The 5 for $10 taco tuesday deal is great (al pastor is my favorite) and their other dishes are super tasty as well, including the burritos and plates. I can’t leave this review without mentioning the incredible margaritas with their house made infused tequilas. The lavender tequila is super unique but the jalapeño tequila is my go-to. These drinks are not only tasty but very generous portions! I grew up eating Mexican food in LA and el legendario is the best i’ve found in Seattle!
Honestly was super excited because the pricing was really good, but now I know there’s a reason. Don’t think there was any seasoning at all on the shrimp tacos. Quite literally boiled shrimp. The rice tasted like horse bales I felt like. The beans were good. Won’t be back though. Service was good.
Fantastic food, never had anything from here my family and I didn’t like. We used to live around the corner and are now about 30 minutes away but will still always come here for our Mexican food fix! Helpful, friendly, and accommodating staff! The margaritas are fantastic as well!
Nothing against the other nearby Mexican restaurant with a large burrito that is compared in size to a baby, but the burrito mojado here is, in my opinion, far better and just as filling!
I saw a complaint about charging for chips. for dine in I’ve not been charged. For to go orders I would expect to have to pay. Would you expect a free bread basket included in an order from a restaurant that provides those?
Would’ve ordered more food but couldn’t make it past the queso. Stomach started to feel upset if, I asked what cheese it was, she said she had no idea. But I know, my hypothesis is that it is Frito queso dip. My boyfriends stomach is having a fiesta now. Es no bueno. Margarita was subpar, the prices were. What restaurant even charges for chips
