I was between the curry or beef stew but the cashier recommended the rice porridge since I’ve tried the other two other places. The porridge was great! My husband loved the Pho Baguette it was also really great and flavorful! Excited to come back and try the curry and beef stew another time!
The chicken curry soup with a baguette is delicious. Tastes like home. Great customer service and ambiance, too.

This place is usually super busy and I can see why! Really tasty food, clean atmosphere and great staff. Drinks on hand were cold and they had a great variety y of alcohol and non alcoholic drinks. I was torn on their menu as everything coming out looked and smelled amazing. I’m glad I settled on the tofu rice bowl, as it came out hot and was seasoned perfectly! It is a bit pricey but well worth it. They also have some of the best seating as a lot of it is shaded.
The menu is simple but delicious, not too expensive, and the atmosphere is really nice. I got the porridge which was a seasonal item, and I really enjoyed it – the flavor was good and just a little spicy, although I do wish it had more bok choy. Overall I would definitely recommend East Borough, especially when it’s a little cold out. Compared to authentic Vietnamese hole-in-the walls I’ve tried, East Borough is more stylish and user-friendly, but also more expensive and less bold flavors. I would definitely come again if I’m looking for a nicer casual dinner spot with friends.
I wanted to try this place out when we were walking pass it and the yummy smell of Chinese Five spices hit my nose. I knew right away it’s the Vietnamese Beef brisket stew.
We ordered grilled pork spring rolls and brisket stew banh mi.
The rolls are decent but the dipping sauce was peanut sauce which mass the grilled pork lemongrass and Chinese five spices flavor. Grilled pork traditionally only served with seasoned Fish sauce since the flavorings are more complex.

I’ve been coming here for almost 3 years, and have never had a sub-par experience. This restaurant works hard to deliver delicious and nutritious food consistently, and also adds a personal touch (like throwing in extra hot sauce when you ask for it all the time and then forget), and the staff is always friendly . They have great gluten free options too.

Got the vermicelli with beef. Flavor was very good but the beef was so salty I wasn’t able to finish the dish.
My absolute favorite! Been going here since they opened. The Beef stew is my go to and I love pairing it with a bhan mi. The staff is friendly and the location is very aesthetically pleasing. Only downside is sometimes they aren’t consistent but still delicious.
We had a delightful lunch here. Our table in the quiet fenced-in private outdoor patio had a leisurely feel. All three dishes we ordered from the simple menu were tasty and spot-on. The crunchy bean sprouts, cucumber and peanuts gave the refreshing cold vermicelli salad a nice mouth feel; the accompanying egg roll with soft mushroom tofu filling was a wonderful bonus. My dining partner loved her flavorful chicken curry soup with a sweet, pleasing coconut milk flagrance. The healthy, delicious green kale salad (with quinoa and pickled mango) we shared was also very good.
