The service is always wonderful and the food good. We like it because it is close to home, but every time we think of going the cost verses quality leads us to choosing a different option. They recently remodeled (moved the hostess station out of the middle of dining area and bar) to make more room for more seating. Luckily we went for lunch so hardly anyone was there, otherwise neighbor tables are so close it’s like they’re joining you for dinner. My husband had the small bites appetizer, literally two bites, they did not lie. I had the half order of their “Un” Chopped Seafood Salad. I recommend you get it chopped and tossed Duke’s Style. This is always a winner filled with seafood and a low carb dressing. We each also had a small bowl of their Lobster Mobster Pernod Chowder. It’s actually more like a deep plate. While it is Ok, it does not compare to the Lobster Shop’s Lobster Bisque. You get twice as much soup, drizzled with sweet Vermouth for only $11.00 instead of $18.00 and a beautiful waterfront view! I have to confess that I drag my husband there, who gripes about the cost the entire time, mainly to get their Blueberry Lemon Drop. So good! $90.00 for a quick lunch out. You will have to decide if it’s worth it….for us (me) it occasionally is.

When we arrived, the staff was very attentive and friendly. We were seated after a short wait. The floor was a little crowded (narrow aisles), but the tables were clean and neatly set.

Once seated, we were greeted by our server and offered beverages. They arrived without delay. My wife ordered the stuffed halibut and I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp.

Both entrees arrived after a short wait and looked very nice. The shrimp were delicious and perfectly cooked. I really liked the sauce that came with the shrimp. The halibut dish was delicious as well. It was well seasoned, had a great flavor, and was perfectly cooked.

My only reason for giving 4 vs 5 stars was the price. I consider this to be a mid-range restaurant, not high end. Unfortunately, their prices have become very high-end with both dishes being in the range of $40 per plate. I know the pandemic and inflation has been rough on everyone, but these prices have gotten out of hand.

Good location, good staff, very good food, overpriced. Not somewhere that we will be going to again “on a whim” to spend a $100 on lunch for 2.

This review is purely on the food, as the service was good, but the food was so lackluster I can’t give anything higher than one star.
My friend and I met for lunch and picked this place as it was a halfway point between us both. We each ordered a small lobster chowder, which was probably 1/2 cup worth of chowder, no exaggeration. The soup was warm, not hot, and therefore uncomfortably thick; and what did we each pay for a 1/2 cup of thick salty chowder? $14. Insanity.
I ordered the crab salad ($30!!) which got me a half plate of lettuce, clearly canned crab with no flavor, bacon bits and peppers. The salad lacked any flavor, and I could have gotten twice as much salad with three times the flavor and ingredients at Panera, for a third of the cost.
My friend got the salmon, which lacked flavor and seasoning, and was rubbery.
For two small soups, a salad, and salmon [and a water for me and iced tea for my friend] the total came to $110!!
Biggest waste of money I have ever spent. Save yourself the time and money and go to Ivars or even Long John Silvers. This place is a joke.

Hayley and her team made our experience fantastic!
With Dad visiting from the desert, he wanted seafood so we headed to Duke’s. Of course, Dad’s eyes were drawn to the beautiful bar and he thought he might be able to get his signature drink (a “Fred-tini) from the well-stocked shelves. They were happy to make on for him complete with Lillet. He was in heaven!
Dad ordered the cioppino and devoured every morsel. He was really impressed. The broth was hearty and there was plenty of seafood. He sipped up every last bite with the piping hot sourdough bread.
I ordered the stuffed salmon which was delicious. It was perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and served with beautiful summer zucchini and gem potatoes.
We sat on the patio and enjoyed the breezy summer evening. It was lovely out there. Our server was attentive and took great care of us. We will definitely be back!

Such a great dining experience! Sia was our server and she was AMAZING! She was so attentive and offered great recommendations. The service was quick. The food was great but I really feel like Sia brought the whole experience to another level!

I also enjoyed the ambiance. The decor was somewhat strange (the Duke Kahanamoku portrait felt a bit  appropriative but I understand there’s a “Duke” theme). Other than that, I would definitely come back!

Duke’s is great! The food is amazing, chowder is fresh and tasty, and not too salty (which can be the case with chowders). The service was fast and our waiter was on top of it! Our drinks remained filled and our bread was refilled. We went during the week, so the crowd was light and fairly quiet. This is a bit of a splurge though, our table of 3 paid $150 with appetizers and alcohol. Perfect place for a nice family gathering, outdoor seating was also available
