One of the first things I researched upon arriving in Lausanne was crepes, and I quickly arrived at the internet consensus: Creperie la Chandeleur is bae first and foremost and La Creperie d’Ouchy comes in a distant second place and caters more to tourists. While I loved the more authentic experience of Creperie la Chandeleur and the seemingly less touristy clientele, I didn’t think their crepes were as good.

Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere?

Unlike La Creperie d’Ouchy, Creperie la Chandeleur is a much more local establishment. Even so, it gets absolutely packed, so make a reservation and if you don’t have one be sure to line up at least five to ten minutes before opening. Once you’re seated things need to be a bit quick, but the service is fast and friendly. Star.

Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?

Having spent nearly 18,00 CHF on a crepe at La Creperie d’Ouchy, it was a relief to spend only 14,00 CHF for a crepe of comparable size. Still expensive, but not entirely unreasonable. Star.

Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?

This was a very good crepe. The crepe itself was decent in its own right if not a bit overcooked, and the fillings were all there, but this wasn’t quite as elaborate at what I had over at La Creperie d’Ouchy. Single Star.

Star 5: Would you be excited to go back?

So honestly, given the wait time, I think I might actually prefer La Creperie d’Ouchy. No Star.

Came in for an early lunch/break at 11:45am and was able to get a seat. They seem to be very reservation heavy as right after 12, the restaurant filled up pretty much instantly with parties that made reservations… on a random Wednesday! If you really want to eat here, be sure to come at a non peak time or make a reservation.

The decor is really cute inside and it’s a warm and cozy vibe. I tried their spinach, egg and cheese crepe, which was delicious and very filling! It’s crisper and saltier than other savory crepes I’ve had in the past, but I highly recommend. They have a ton of options and an English menu as well. I also ordered a hot chocolate based on another Yelp review’s recommendation, but I didn’t like it. I don’t recommend ordering it because it is essentially just a package of powered hot chocolate and steamed milk.

Regardless I would definitely stop in if you’re in the area and be sure to call ahead in you’re really inclined to eat here!

Excellent location in the downtown Lausanne. Not exactly the best Brittany-style crêperie, it is still an excellent location, with a lot of space and quality, blazing-fast service. Their mushroom and spinach-based buckwheat crêpes are definitely among my favorites and their sweet crêpes offer a good selection for a variety of tastes as well.

Absolutely delicious! I came here once in 2014 when I did a euro trip and could not pass it up again. My girlfriend and I both had dessert crepes (after eating fondue) and they were outstanding. Lovely atmosphere and very nice staff.

Try the hot chocolate!!! We had the specialty crepe (it’s the asparagus season) and something else that was sweet, but everything seems to be good.  Tricky place to get to though as Lausanne is multi-tiered, I highly recommend parking at the city center and then walking here.  It’s much easier than finding street parking.

Terrific restaurant!!! Great food, service, and reasonable priced, cannot ask for more. The crepe were made to perfection, both savery and sweet. Will definitely go back.

We had a magnificent dinner with the “Royale” smoked salmon crepe and a spinach and salmon crepe.  The buckwheat crepes are magnificent.  They seated us without a reservation on a Friday evening and gracefully handled us non-French-speaking diners.  We would definitely return on our next visit.

I chose to try La Creperie after I read Mindy’s review. It was the first time I was eating Crepe in Switzerland so I was pretty excited to try that joint.

Atmosphere 4/5: It’s a nice little restaurant with a patio that is as large as the inside dinner room. The atmosphere is friendly and warm with those wood decorations. You kinda feel to be in a Swiss Chalet.

Food 4/5: Crepes were good! I had a Sour Crepe, the Roquefort with Nuts. It was quiet good. A little bit too salty but it was mainly because of the roquefort. The mix Greens was good as well as appetizer and large enough. The dressing sauce was good.

Service 4/5: Friendly service by the waitresses. They were a little bit busy with the patio and I went there around 3pm but overall, it was better than what you can expect in most of the restaurant in Switzerland.

I would go back with a group next time. It’s the perfect snack to have in the middle of the afternoon if you’re shopping in Lausanne for example.

This is another favorite in Lausanne.  My french friend took me to this place for the first time, as she mentioned their crepes were the closest to what you would find in her home country.  Everything about this place is great.  They have a great outside area to eat in during the warmer months.  If you have room, definitely follow up the salty crepe with a sweet crepe. They have a great special crepe they offer in the Christmas season, that tastes just like Christmas!  This is a small place, and you definitely have to make reservations in advance.
