I have been coming here for decades now. The food is consistently great and the staff is always friendly. My absolute favorite is their mussels. Absolutely the best mussels in the east bay hands down. It’s the delicious soup that makes it great. French and buttery. Love the courtyard in back. Used to come for a late lunch and have the courtyard to myself or with friends. But alas, they have been closed for lunch for a while now. Too bad.

The mussels, pomme frites, the SERVICE, the wine…oh, and did I mention the mussels???

I’ve been here twice and had wonderful food and dining experience each time. A friend of mine raves about this place for YEARS.

Finally, tried them on a surprise visit with her, and I understand why she RAVED!

The mussels are absolutely delicious! Along with the french fries, it’s a meal on its own. I could just eat those two with a good glass of wine. I appreciate their drink a list, but particularly the uniqueness of the wine list. Rarely have I seen an “orange” wine.

They have a beautiful, full bar. The patrons/customer service is always top-notch. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

I already have a reservation to return with new friends next month. Yes…its that good.

Everything that came out of that kitchen was delicious!  The service was amazing too.  This little spot is perfect for a romantic dinner.  I had an amazing NY steak with creamy mashed potatoes and spinach.  The pomme frittes here are a MUST!

Love this spot!

We had a reservation, even for a weeknight.  We were seated quickly.  We sat outside, in the parklet.  It was a lovely late summer evening and it was beautiful outside.

We ordered drinks and a few dishes to share.  Everything was delicious, especially the salad and the flatbread with figs and pancetta.

Service was impeccable.  I’d come back again!

I went to A Cote on a date with my girlfriend. The server told us about the history of Orange wine. We got a bottle and have been looking for more Orange wine everywhere we go! Also you have to try the mussels with the fries.

The mussels and Georgian bread were amazing. The entrees are pretty freaking expensive. My sister and I ordered the halibut while everyone ordered steaks and pork chops. We should have gotten what everyone else had.  Seriously, the fish had a weird taste to it – not like it had gone bad,  but it was seasoned with something really strong. We took them to go and fed it to the dogs.

Service was professional.

Food was mediocre at best. We had guests and it was embarrassing. Service was worse than the food. Do not recommend.

Take your baby mama here to celebrate her 39th.  Or for whatever reason you like.  The Bay and the Mediterranean have a weird and wavy connection.  Come here and spread it across your palate.

When does a restaurant transition from hot upstart to amazing standard-setter? When I think of A Cote, I’ve been around long enough to remember when it was hip enough to warrant mention in the New York Times.

But now it has aged into a outstanding classic– to me it brings to mind Zuni Cafe in San Francisco.

Like other classics, the food is outstanding, the service friendly and welcoming and excellent, and the atmosphere timeless. That’s A Cote, and Rockridge is very lucky to have this restaurant.
