Each week, we’re spotlighting the story of one of our writers who spends time telling the tales of others. This week, we’re happy to introduce you to Anusheh Khan.
Hometown / Current Residence
My hometown is Leesburg, Virginia but I’m currently residing in London!
When did you know that you wanted to be a writer? Were there any early experiences you had that confirmed this path?
My educational and career background is in economics and finance, but I knew I loved writing when I was a writer for my college newspaper. I love being able to write for Hyperflyer and other blogs because it gives me a chance to do both my career in the financial sector, but also pursue my passion for writing! I definitely want to take my writing career full-time one day, but until then, I love being able to juggle both parts of my life.
What have you liked about writing for Hyperflyer?
I love how professional the atmosphere is, but also that writing for Hyperflyer is very flexible! With my move to the U.K and my other full-time job, I thought that I wasn’t going to be able to juggle the writing part of my life, but I’m [still] able to write on my own time and take on the work that I am very passionate about.
Outside of Hyperflyer, what else do you write? Are there any projects you are particularly fond of that you’d like to share?
Hyperflyer is currently the only writing project I am handling right now. With my finance job and new move, time has been a rare commodity! I definitely plan on growing my writing portfolio by writing for local sources here in London.
How has your pandemic life been? What are you doing to stay busy and focused?
My pandemic life has been super hectic! I moved countries during a global pandemic, so that was definitely interesting. I’m currently keeping myself busy with exploring London, making new friends, and taking care of the new kitten my husband and I just adopted!
What does supporting local mean to you, and why do you think it’s important?
Supporting local means giving people who don’t have a large social media platform a voice. I believe this is particularly important as there are local restaurants who have not able been able to figure out or have the resources to grow a social media presence. I believe that if you have a large platform, use it for those who need it the most.
